Primo post del nuovo anno, sono stato molto impegnato in questo periodo e non sono riuscito a scrivere sul blog ma prometto di impegnarmi di più in futuro.

Ho tanti progetti in testa e ve li svelero' un po' per volta, nel frattempo vi mostro le pagine dell'edizione invernale di Immagina che contengono le mie foto.

First new year's post, I have been very busy in this period and didn't be able to write a lot in the blog but I promise to be much more committed in the future.

I have many projects in my head and I will reveal them a bit per time, meanwhile I show you the Immagina winter edition pages containing my photos.

Come ogni anno, Canon Italia organizza questo bell'evento gratuito dedicato agli appassionati di fotografia e video, durante il quale sarà possibile partecipare a workshop, chiacchierare con fotografi professionisti del settore, ammirare mostre o farsi leggere il portfolio.

La nuova sede sarà in via Tortona 32 a Milano presso "La Torneria" e sarà aperta al pubblico dal 30 novembre al 4 dicembre.

E' un'occasione da non perdere, io penso partecipero' al workshop tenuto dal mitico Giancluca Colla che non vedo dai tempi di Venezia.

As every year, Canon Italy organizes this beautiful free event dedicated to photography and video lovers, during which it will be possible to take part of workshops, chat with professional photographers, watch galleries or receive critical reads of your portfolio.

The new site will be in via Tortona 32 in Milan at the "La Torneria" building and will be open from november 30th to december 4th.

It's an opportunity not to be missed, I will attend at the workshop leaded by Gianluca Colla whom I miss since Venice times.

Il nostro è davvero un mondo fantastico, spesso non ce ne rendiamo conto e ci comportiamo da pazzi trattandolo male, ma basta raccogliere le immagini scattate dalla Stazione Spaziale Internazionale, montarle in un video e metterci un po' di musica ed ecco questo incredibile filmato fatto da Michael Konig. Sono tutte immagini vere scattate di notte con una Nikon D3s installata a bordo, si possono chiaramente vedere le aurore boreali e australi, i lampi dei temporali o le città illuminate.

Godiamoci il filmato e rispettiamo di più il nostro bellissimo mondo.

Ours is a really wonderful world, we often don't realize that and we act like crazy treating it bad, but it's enough to collect the pictures shot from the International Space Station, render them in a video and put some music and here it comes this incredible film made by Michale Konig. They all are real images shot by night using an on board Nikon D3s, it's possible to clearly see the boreal and austral auroras, storm lightings or light up cities.

Let's enjoy the film and let's pay a little bit more respect to our beautiful world.

I luoghi abbandonati mi hanno sempre affascinato, sono testimonianze di un passato che non potra' piu' tornare ma da cui possiamo imparare molto per il nostro futuro.

Alle porte di Milano esistono ancora i vecchi stabilimenti della Innocenti, una importante industria che rese grande l'Italia nel mondo grazie ai suoi prodotti di eccellenza.
In questi stabilimenti nacquero la Lambretta e la Mini e si producevano immense parti meccaniche come turbine di centrali elettriche. L'area era talmente vasta che, oltre a scorrervi all'interno il fiume Lambro, aveva anche una pista di collaudo e una linea ferroviaria che serviva per portare le materie prime direttamente sul luogo di lavorazione e prelevare i prodotti finiti che venivano immediatamente spediti.
Un brillante esempio di efficienza nella catena di produzione.

Ora tutto questo e' solo un pallido ricordo nei giornali dell'epoca o delle persone che ci hanno lavorato per una vita ed e' per questo che ho voluto documentarlo fotografando quello che rimane delle gigantesche strutture che ora sembrano scheletri di balena e che a breve verranno definitivamente abbattute.

Il fiume Lambro, uno dei piu' inquinati d'Italia, continua a scorrere al suo interno in silenzio e degli antichi binari restano solo alcuni spezzoni che affiorano dall'asfalto. Non essendoci piu' le coperture dei tetti, dalle intelaiature di metallo filtra una strana luce che rende il luogo ancora piu' surreale, abitato solo da esseri dal collo lungo, da fiori che parlano o volti che urlano vendetta, come raccontano gli innumerevoli graffiti dipinti sulle pareti.

Il mio progetto affianca alle immagini di oggi quelle di allora, recuperate da vecchi documenti o da persone che vi hanno lavorato da giovani, con l'obbiettivo di creare poi una mostra o magari una pubblicazione, perche' i fantasmi dal passato hanno ancora molte cose da raccontarci e spetta a noi saperli ascoltare.

Abandoned places have always amazed me, they are witnesses of a past that will not come back but from wich we can learn for our future.

At the entrance of Milan still exist the old Innocenti facilities, an important factory that made Italy great in the world for its state of the art products.
In these facilities were born the Lambretta scooter and the Mini car and huge mechanical parts were produced as power plant turbines. The area was so wide that the Lambro river flew within, had a testing track and a railway to bring raw materials directly into the production site and load the finished products to send them quickly.
A brilliant example of production chain efficiency.

Now everything is only a pale memory in aged magazines or in people that worked there for a lifetime and it's for this reason that I wanted to describe it photographing what remains of the giant structures that now look like whale skeletons and that will be soon destroyed.

The Lambro river, one of the most polluted in Italy, goes on flowing silent in it and of the old railway only remain some shards appearing from the pavement. Without the roofs, from the metal frames filters a strange light that turns the place more unreal, hounted only by long necked beings, speaking flowers or faces screaming revenge, as the graffiti painted on the walls tell.

My project joins today's images with old ones, saved from old documents or people that worked there when they were young, with the goal to create a gallery and hopefully a book, because the ghosts form the past still have many things to tell and is up to us to be able to listen at them.

Nel decimo anniversario dell'attentato alle torri gemelle, il New York Times dedica un'apposita pagina sul suo sito con una bella galleria fotografica che racconta la loro costruzione nei primi anni 70 fino alla distruzione nel 2001.
Sono immagini emozionanti e d'impatto che descrivono la forza dell'ingegno umano, che può costruire torri oltre le nuvole e la sua stupidità, che riesce a produrre solo cenere e tristezza.

After ten years from the attack to the twin towers, the New York Times dedicates an appropriate web page with a thrilling photogallery that tells their building at the beginning of the 70s up to the destruction in the 2001.
They are exciting and strong images that describe the strenght of human intellect that can build beyond-clouds towers and its stupidity, that can only generate dust and sadness.
