E' scomparso a 79 anni il grande fotografo di guerra Horst Faas. Vincitore di due premi Pulitzer, era inviato in Vietnam per l'agenzia Associated Press e sue sono le fotografie più famose di quella tremenda guerra.

The great war photographer Horst Faas passed away, he was 79 years old. Two Pulitzer prices winner, he was the reporter for Associated Press Agency in Vietnam and his are the most famous pictures of that bad war.

Come ogni anno, le foto vincitrici del World Press Photo vanno in tour per essere ammirate in tutto il mondo, toccando 45 Paesi e 105 città. In Italia sarà possible ammirarle presso il Museo di Roma in Trastevere dal 28 aprile al 20 maggio e a Milano presso la Galleria Carla Sozzani dal 5 maggio al 3 giugno.
La foto qua sopra è la vincitrice, di Samuel Aranda, un fotografo dell'agenzia Frace-Presse che ritrae una donna mentre sostiene il figlio intossicato dai lacrimogeni durante le manifestazioni in Yemen del 15 Ottobre.

As every year, the World Press Photo winner pictures go on tour to be seen worldwide, touching 45 Countires and 105 cities. In Italy you will be able to see them at the Rome Museum in Trastevere from april 28th to may 20th and in Milan at the Carla Sozzani Gallery starting from may the 5th up to june the 3th.The above photo is the winner, from Samuel Aranda, a France-Presse Agency photographer showing a woman holding her son intoxicated by the tear gas after the street demonstation in Yemen last October 15th.

E' disponibile in prova gratuita la nuovissima versione di Photoshop CS6 scaricabile dal sito Adobe in Beta release.

Tra le principali novità troviamo l'interfaccia ridisegnata e più adatta a visualizzare correttamente le immagini su cui lavorare, un motore grafico chiamato "Mercury Graphics Engine" che sfrutta appieno la potenza della scheda grafica sgravando il processore centrale, salvataggi automatici in background (per fortuna sono disattivabili perchè io non la ritengo un'opzione utile, anzi) e nuovi tool come il "Content-Aware Patch" che permette di spostare velocemente una parte di immagine in altra posizione.

Unico limite è che su MAC funziona solo sulle versioni a 64 bit e non su quelle vecchie, ma provarlo non costa nulla finchè è in beta test quindi divertitevi.

It is available the new free test version of Photoshop CS6 downloadable from the Adobe website in Beta release.

In the main new features we can find a new graphic interface redesigned in order to show more correctly the images we are working on, a graphic engine called "Mercury Graphics Engine" using the full graphic card power that leaves the CPU free for other tasks, authomatic save in background (luckly it is possible to switch this option off because I don't think it is a smart function) and new tools like the "Content-Aware Patch" that can let you move picture's parts to other places.

For MAC it only works on newer 64 bit versions and not on the older ones, but trying it doesn't cost a thing while it is in beta test so have fun!

Sul canale Virgin Radio TV stanno andando in onda delle mini puntate dedicate a grandi fotografi contemporanei che raccontano se stessi, il loro stile e le loro considerazioni sullo stato della fotografia.

Sono piccole puntate di 10 minuti ognuna molto snella ma intensa che non annoia ma anzi risveglia la curiosità di appassionati e professionisti.

Il canale è visibile sul digitale terrestre (canale 69), su Sky (canale 752) e su Tv Sat (canale 40) ma alcune delle puntate le trovate anche in rete, come quella sopra di Franco Fontana o direttamente sul sito di Virgin Radio TV.

On Virgin Radio TV channel are on air some short monographies dedicated to great contemporary photographers who tell about themselves, their style and their consideration on the state of photography.

They are small episodes 10 minutes long each very thin but intense that won't bore but awake insthead the curiosity of fans and professionists.

The channel is visible on digital (channel 69), on Sky (channel 752) and on TV Sat (channel 40) but you can find some episodes also online, like the one above by Franco Fontana or directly at the Virgin Radio TV site.

Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia propone otto incontri con altrettanti maestri della fotografia italiana.
Un’occasione per conoscere da vicino i nostri autori più importanti e un omaggio che la casa della fotografia in Italia vuole rendere a chi ha costruito la storia della fotografia nel nostro paese.
Per un lungo fine settimana al mese, quattro giorni – poco più di 80 ore, Forma dedicherà uno spazio speciale a un grande autore.
Si comincia il giovedì sera, con un incontro-dibattito animato da un giornalista. Dal giovedì stesso, e per tutto il fine settimana, la libreria di Forma riserverà una sezione speciale ai libri del fotografo presentato, tra edizioni introvabili, grandi classici e novità.
Presso il be*Coo Bar di Forma, si alterneranno per il week end proiezioni di film sull’autore.

Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia issues eight meetings with masters of italian photography. An opportunity to have a close knowledge of our most important authors and a present the italian photography's house wants to give to whom built the photography history in our country.
For a log week end at month, four days - almost 80 hours, Forma will dedicate a special space to a great author.
It will start thursday night, with a debate-meeting leaded by a journalist. Up to the same thursday until the whole week end, the bookshop will have a special section to the photographer's books.
At the be*Coo Bar will be alternated films about the author.

Ebbene, come promesso ecco che vi anticipo il primo progetto che ho in mente: scrivere un libro!
Si' perchè in questi anni ho raccolto molte esperienze, domande, successi e insuccessi e mi piacerebbe metterli a disposizione di tutti raccogliendoli in una forma più comoda e organica di un semplice blog. E da dove iniziare se non dalle mie esperienze di viaggio? Ecco quindi che il primo volume parlerà proprio di fotografia e di viaggi, ovvero come cercare di ottenere il massimo dalle foto che scatteremo nei nostri prossimi viaggi.

Al momento sono più orientato al formato elettronico che non il classico cartaceo ma è ancora tutto in divenire quindi state sintonizzati e vi raccontero' gli sviluppi della mia idea.

Well, as promised I advance you the first project in my mind: write a book!
Yes because I collected plenties of experiences, questions, successes and failures during these years and I would like to let them be available to everybody merging them in an easier and more complete output than a plain blog. And from where should I start if not from my travel experiences? Here is why my first volume will speak of photography and travels, or how to try to get the best result from the pictures we will shoot during our next travels.

At the moment I am closer to the electronic format insthead of the classic paper but everything is still evolving so stay tuned and I will tell you the development of my idea.

Primo post del nuovo anno, sono stato molto impegnato in questo periodo e non sono riuscito a scrivere sul blog ma prometto di impegnarmi di più in futuro.

Ho tanti progetti in testa e ve li svelero' un po' per volta, nel frattempo vi mostro le pagine dell'edizione invernale di Immagina che contengono le mie foto.
